Hudba, jedlo, pitie, ženy, bitky, hazard, krik, smiech, tanec (a všetko nemierne) – takto opisuje nórsky huslista Bjarte Eike atmosféru anglických pubov, taverien a hostincov v 17. storočí. Tieto miesta je možné považovať za „divokejších“ predchodcov dnešných verejných koncertných siení. Hudbu (možno aj tanec, ale každopádne dobrú náladu) ponúkne na Konvergenciách medzinárodne úspešný projekt huslistu Bjarteho Eikeho a súboru Barokksolistene s názvom The Alehouse Sessions, ktorý sa snaží oživiť atmosféru miest a stretnutí, kam sa „zakázaná hudba“ uchýlila (nielen) v dobách občianskej vojny. Konvergencie pozývajú na fascinujúcu cestu do Anglicka 17. storočia, do krajiny Shakespeara, Johna Playforda a Henryho Purcella, do čias občianskej vojny i návratu Stuartovcov na trón. V žiadnom prípade však nepôjde o prechádzku muzeálnou expozíciou – budú znieť námornícke pesničky, ľudové melódie, temperamentné tance, clivé balady i „nevážne“ predvedenia diel „vážnych majstrov“. Medzinárodný súbor Barokksolistene tvoria muzikanti so skúsenosťami s rôznych žánrov – od jazzu po starú hudbu (v tejto kapele preto nemôže chýbať slovenský huslista Miloš Valent), ktorých aranžmány a improvizácie vdýchli repertoáru z taverien a pubov nový život. Prestížny britský hudobný časopis BBC Music Magazine napísal, že nahrávka The Alehouse Sessions (Rubicon, 2017) má atmosféru s bezprostrednosťou „neskorej nočnej jam session“. Tešíme sa na stretnutie na Konvergenciách – jedlo, pitie, smiech a tanec povolené!

Musik, Essen, Trinken, Frauen, Schlägereien, Hasard, Geschrei, Gelächter, Tanz (und all das unmäßig) – so beschreibt der norwegische Geiger Bjarte Eike die Atmosphäre der englischen Pubs, Tavernen und Wirtshäuser im 17. Jahrhundert. Diese Orte kann man als „wildere“ Vorgänger heutiger öffentlicher Konzertsäle betrachten. Die Musik (vielleicht auch Tanz, jedenfalls aber gute Laune) wird bei den Konvergenzen vom international erfolgreichen Projekt des Violinisten Bjarte Eike und des Ensembles Barokksolistene unter dem Titel The Alehouse Sessions angeboten. Es bemüht sich um die Widerbelebung der Atmosphäre der Orte und Treffs, zu denen die „verbotene Musik“ (nicht nur) in den Zeiten des Bürgerkriegs Zuflucht nahm. Die Konvergenzen laden zu einer faszinierenden Reise nach England des 17. Jahrhunderts ein, in das Land von Shakespeare, John Playford und Henry Purcell, in die Zeiten des Bürgerkriegs und der Rückkehr der Stuarts auf den Thron. Keinesfalls geht es aber um einen Spaziergang durch eine museale Präsentation – es werden Matrosenlieder, Volksmelodien, temperamentvolle Tänze, nostalgische Balladen sowie „nicht ernsthafte“ Aufführungen von Werken „ernster Meister“ erklingen. Das internationale Ensemble Barokksolistene besteht aus Musikern mit Erfahrungen aus verschiedenen Genres – von Jazz bis Alte Musik (in dieser band kann deswegen auch der slowakische Geiger Miloš Valent nicht fehlen), deren Arrangements und Improvisierungen dem Repertoire der Tavernen und Pubs neues Leben einhauchen. Die prestigevolle britische Musikzeitschrift BBC Music Magazine schrieb, dass die Aufnahme The Alehouse Sessions (Rubicon, 2017) die Atmosphäre und Spontanität einer „spätabendlichen Jamsession“ hat. Music, food, drink, women, fights, gambling, screams, laughter, dance (and everything to excess) – that is how the Norse violinist Bjarte Eike describes the atmosphere of English pubs, taverns and inns of the 17th century. These places may be regarded as “wilder” predecessors of today’s concert halls. Music (and maybe also dance, but in any event good humour) is offered at Convergences in an internationally successful project by violinist Bjarte Eike and the Barokksolistene ensemble, entitled The Alehouse Sessions. This attempts to revive the atmosphere of the places and encounters where “forbidden music” took refuge during the time of the Civil War. Convergences are offering a fascinating journey to 17th century England, to the country of Shakespeare, John Playford and Henry Purcell, to the Civil War and Stuart Restoration periods. But this is by no means a stroll through some museum display. Sailors’ songs will be heard, folk melodies, temperamental dances, mournful ballads and “non-serious” presentations of works by “serious masters”. The international Barokksolistene ensemble comprises musicians with experience in various genres, from jazz to early music (hence the Slovak violinist Miloš Valent could not fail to be part of the group), whose arrangements and improvisations breathe new life into the repertoire of pubs and taverns. Britain’s prestigious BBC Music Magazine wrote that the recording of The Alehouse Sessions (Rubicon, 2017) had “the atmosphere and immediacy of a late-night jam session”.
