Bratislava Boys‘ Choir

The Bratislava Boys’ Choir has been an active part of the Slovak music scene since 1982 under the direction of its founder and conductor, Magdaléna Rovňáková. The choir’s beginnings are linked to the Slovak Philharmonic, where it originally performed under the name Boys’ Philharmonic Choir. In 1988, the choir became independent and today is part of a private art school, where approximately 80 boys aged 7 to 28 study on average. The Bratislava Boys’ Choir has won several international choir competitions, performs across Europe, America, Canada, Japan, and Taiwan, and regularly collaborates with renowned Slovak and international orchestras and conductors. In 2022, the choir appeared at the Viva Musica! festival to mark its 40th anniversary. “It is a great pleasure and honor for us to once again perform at the Viva Musica! festival, which brings top artists from around the world to Slovakia. After concerts in Italy, France, and Germany, we are excited to present a cheerful and – I believe – exceptional concert to the festival audience. This is the only concert of this artistic season where the Bratislava Boys’ Choir will perform with more than 60 singers! We are preparing it exclusively for the Viva Musica! festival,” said Magdaléna Rovňáková, who leads the choir together with her son, Gabriel Rovňák. The concert will take place in the garden of the national cultural monument Eco-Centre (Ekocentrum) in Čunovo, a newly renovated historic manor house that now serves as a unique environmental and educational center. Admission to the concert is symbolic, and entry will be allowed until the venue reaches its permitted capacity.
