Dear classical music lovers, we would like to inform you that the Dalibor Karvay 40 concert, originally scheduled for 25 July 2025 to mark Dalibor’s 40th birthday, has had to be postponed due to health reasons and will now take place on the new date – Thursday, 6 August 2026. Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to seeing you at the concert next year! The Viva Musica! Festival Team
Exceptional virtuosity, utmost precision, and musical maturity are the qualities that have made Dalibor Karvay one of the most prominent and internationally successful Slovak artists of his generation. This summer, he will celebrate his 40th birthday, and the Viva Musica! festival will be part of the celebration! Dalibor Karvay began playing the violin at the age of three under the guidance of his father. After studying at the Conservatory in Žilina, he continued his education in the class of the legendary Professor Boris Kuschnir in Vienna, and at a young age, became a laureate of several international competitions. As a soloist, he has performed with many prestigious orchestras and renowned conductors, and he is also a sought-after chamber musician. Since 2020, he has served as the concertmaster of the Wiener Symphoniker, with whom he also performed as a soloist at the Beijing Performing Arts Centre in March 2025, under the baton of chief conductor Petr Popelka. Joining him on stage along with the Viva Musica! Orchestra will be two outstanding musicians — Dutch cellist Harriet Krijgh and Austrian pianist Markus Schirmer. Together, they will perform Beethoven’s Triple Concerto for Piano, Violin and Cello in C major, Op. 56, which will be followed in the second half of the concert by Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4 in B-flat major, in a performance prepared and artistically led by Dalibor Karvay himself.
"This concert is very special to me — not only because I celebrated my 40th birthday this summer, but above all because I’ll be performing with two outstanding musicians and dear friends — Harriet Krijgh and Markus Schirmer, whom I deeply admire. We will perform Beethoven’s Triple Concerto and Fourth Symphony with the Viva Musica! Orchestra without a conductor, which I see as a beautiful challenge and, at the same time, a celebration of musical understanding and mutual trust," added Dalibor Karvay.
