Louise Acabo: Baroque Stories

Her playing is distinguished by virtuosity and remarkable depth, rooted in a rich and diverse repertoire. Louise Acabo is among the most prominent figures of the younger generation of French early music performers. She studied in Strasbourg and Basel and is currently based in Paris. She is a laureate of several international competitions (including the Bach-Wettbewerb in Leipzig, La Capella Musicale in Milan, and the Corneille Competition in Rouen) and regularly collaborates with leading early music ensembles such as Jupiter, Le Concert de la Loge, Pygmalion, and Masques. As a soloist, she has appeared at major festivals in France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Italy, and since 2025 she has been a resident artist at the Fondation Singer-Polignac.

At the Viva Musica! festival, Louise will perform in her Slovak debut. The program of her solo recital offers a survey of harpsichord repertoire from the 17th and 18th centuries, presenting the evolution of musical language and performance traditions across different European countries. “The selection of pieces highlights the diversity of keyboard music over more than a century, often grouped under the term ‘Baroque’, yet encompassing a wide range of styles. Each work reflects its specific musical and instrumental context within a period marked by both richness and continuous transformation,” says Louise, who, alongside her concert activity, is also engaged in music research. Her debut solo album Chambonnières Overseas, released in August 2025 on the Alpha Classics label, has received international acclaim. A debut album by her ensemble The Banxhies, of which she is a member and co-founder, will also be released this year on the same label.
