Kantátu Óda na deň sv. Cecílie (HWV 76) zložil Georg Friedrich Händel v roku 1739 na oslavu patrónky hudby a hudobníkov svätej Cecílie - jednej z najznámejších mučeníčok rannej cirkvi – premiéra ktorej sa uskutočnila v divadla v Lincoln´s Inn Fields v Londýne, v deň jej sviatku 22. novembra 1739. Skomponoval ju len za 9 dní a stala sa hneď mimoriadne populárnou. Text kantáty Händlom zhudobnenej básne Johna Drydena, napísanej v roku 1687, je založený na pytagorejskej teórii harmonia mundi, ktorá spája pohyb a pôvod nebeských telies s hudbou, ako motorom vesmíru. Už úvodný zbor je jasnou a radostnou oslavou sily hudby, Händlove hudobné linky vyvierajú ako večná, hojná a nezastaviteľná sila – sila tak zásadná, že ju nikdy nemožno utlmiť, alebo ovládať. Úvodné slová „From harmony...“ sú vhodne zabalené do toho najzmyselnejšieho a najmajestátnejšieho harmonického prejavu. Jubal, Orfeus, sv. Cecília, hudba sfér, posledný súd – to všetko sú ingrediencie v bohatej zmesi klasických kresťanských obrazov Drydenovej básne a jedinečnej Händlovej hudby.
