Okrem lídra Megadeth Dave Mustaina je ďalším najznámejším členom David Ellefson. Obaja sú údajne zakladateľmi slávnej kapely, hoci prvý z Davidov to druhému upiera.

Okolnosti Ellefsonovho nedobrovoľného odchodu sú tiež dostatočne známe. Venujme sa ale hudobnej stránke. David popri Megadeth hral ako hosť na nahrávkach slávnych kolegov ako Soulfly, Ministry, GUS G, hral v rôznych projektoch ako F5, The Lucid, alebo aj Ellefson, ktorý nahral s gitaristom Andym Martognellim a Jeffom Scottom Sotom. David Ellefson má bohatý hudobný katalóg a ten, vrátane niekoľkých skladieb Megadeth predstaví aj na marcovom turné so svojou kapelou !
