Description:
Michael Nyman is one of the most innovative and most acknowledged contemporary British composers. He is the composer of so-called minimal music and his works encompass opera, string quartets, orchestral concertos, and film scores (best known is the multiple platinum soundtrack from the film of Jane Campion The Piano). In addition to composing, he is also a pianist, conductor, author and musicologist, and now also a photographer and filmmaker. Thanks to this exceptional versatility, some media have referred to him as one of the most influential British cultural icons of the present day. He comes to Bratislava with his Michael Nyman Band and will perform the Slovak premiere of a cross-section of his works for this ensemble.
